I changed my car over to a manual steering car a few years back, b/c the P/S unit was leaking so badly. It ended up just being a bad hose, but I got use to the manual steering. Well I am in the process of putting it all back together and I have the following questions.

Does the system hold more than a quart of P/S fluid (it is off a 67)? And how much fluid would you put in for the first startup when trying to get the air out of the system?

Are there any tips or gotcha's with installing or re-installing a P/S system? I have read some info on how to get the air out of the system, but not sure if there is much to do other than that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pour in 2/3 quart and with the car running, turn the steering wheel lock to lock a few times. Keep checking your fluid levels and adjust as necessary. Add the fluid in small increments. Too much and you'll make a mess.
