I am replacing my original intake (Ford 289 2 barrel) with an Edelbrock aluminum 4 barrel intake.

The question: Do I need different bolts to secure the new aluminum intake? Or can I use the old ones?

Are the torque specs different for the aluminum?

(I might not know the answers, but at least I know to ask).

Use the same bolts, but add washers . . . 10-15 ft./lbs. should be about right.

Aluminum intakes don't get torqued down as much as iron ones ... like 67gt says, about 10-15 ft. lbs.

Toss the cork end gaskets for the intake and use a 1/4" bead of high temp silicone instead. It will detail it in the Edelbrock instructions if you care to read them /forums/images/icons/wink.gif.

torque it less... about 15 pounds..use washers under the bolts to avoid cutting into the aluminum..also torque the bolts in the proper sequence

You will want to retorque after a couple of run-ups to operating temp. Aluminum manifolds need extra attention to sealing.
