On my "completely original" 66 289 i have a motorcraft carb. Just wondering did ford put anything but autolites on their 289's in 66 or was did the PO replace it... I can look at the tag on the carb for some serial numbers if you need it. TIA

If your carb has a tag it should have a date code too like C5AZ-F or D0HH-F (I made those up but you get the idea). I don't think Motorcraft came into being until about '72.

Dean's right in that Motorcraft didn't start getting put on Fords until later. It's likely some PO put a rebuilt unit on the car. To parts stores and rebuilders Motorcraft = Autolite = Motorcraft when the specified parts are in them.
