I've put a 302 in my 65 Coupe. The water pump is the sort with the outlet to the right (so the rad has both outlets the same side). I need to buy a hose set, but don't understand why this set says it's only for a 289. What's the difference?

I don't know why. I have have always known them to be the same. I looked it up on rock auto and the Gate's bottom hose is the same from 66 to 68 289 or 302

It's confusing. Aren't the 289 and 302 blocks the same? The water pumps say they fit all sizes. I don't want to have a set shipped across to the UK, only to have it not fit. I'm considering making a set up from silicone bends.

All I can tell you is Gate's makes good parts and the part # for the bottom hose is the same for 289 or 302 for a 66 to 68 Mustang

That is just confusing because the 302 didn't come out until 68 and the newer model 302s (5.0L) had a different timing cover and water pump. If you're running a 302 in a 65 with a 65 style radiator, those will work.
