Are the big block radiators 24 inch? Are the metal peices on either side of radiator for 20 inch? So I'm thinking that I want a big block radiator instead of the standard but I don't know the difference.

Yes, the big block radiators are 24 inches wide. Also, small block with AC are 24". The big blocks have 4 cores and, I think the small block with AC are 3 core.....
I put a big block 4 core in my '70 with the 460 swap. It fit side to side just like the 20 inch did, without taking anything out of the sides of the opening.....
