As far as I knew, my car came with Locking 3.25 9"

I confirmed it is a 9", locking, 28 spline rear. How is the 3.25 ratio determined/confirmed?

Also, a previous post tells me that cars with automatic trans don't benefit from the extra strength of 31 spline axles. Why is this?

Shark is right about the 31 spline but in addition to what he said the reason is that the auto absorb some of the sudden power increase whereas the manual tranny transfers it immediately. The sudden application of power puts more stress on parts.

How is the 3.25 ratio determined/confirmed?

Divide the number of pinion teeth into the number of ring gear teeth.
