I put a new Traction lock unit and new 355 gears in my rear... I've had a few short drives maybe 100 miles total, no noises but the rear end seems to be really hot, the dif is full, but the fluid seems thin, should I be worried?

Did you just now start paying more attention to the rear diff temp? I noticed that on long highway runs it was so hot you could not leave your hand on it for very long. When I asked the Rear End Specialist people in San Jose CA about this they said it was normal and that is why it has such heavy weight oil in it. John

do you have the correct, weight? on short runs it should not be as hot as you say.

My truck rearend going down the highway at 80 mph will run 190 deg. On a lightning forum I visit another guy put a sensor in his for road racing and he said on a stock truck in will run 190 deg. with a 3:73 rearend. He said it's not uncommon to see them boil over at the road racing corse.
