I have heard a rumor that the Fox body 8.8 rear end housings are a direct bolt in to the 1965-66 Mustangs. Can anybody confirm this for me. The project I am working on will destroy the 8 inch rear in the car right now.

Most definitely not. They are the same width as a 67-70, but as far as being bolt in..

They are 4 lug, need to convert to 5 lug.

They are not meant for leaf springs, so you have to cut off the brackets, and weld on leaf spring perches.

Modify the driveshaft to fit.

That being said, I opted to do it. But for your car, you might need different wheels since it will be too wide for your car.

Will this rear work without being narrowed with the 17x8 Mach1 wheels?
