Hey guys,

As I posted the other day, I'm in the midst of re-replacing my p/s frame rail extension. Best I can tell the one in my car now was replaced by a previous owner sometime in the 1980's.

Anyway...the replacement piece came from NPD (the one they list as "Canadian Made") and it has some sort of assembly in front of the leaf spring bushing that does not exist on my current one. Is that for an exhaust hanger or something? What is that?

Yep. Anti-crush "tubes". I wouldn't worry too much about water...there's enough places for it to get in (and out) but if you want to put SOMETHING in there use rubber plugs instead of bolts. With plugs you can always pull them if you wish to occasionally shoot some "cavity wax" etc. inside. Yes, I'd use a spray wand extension to shoot epoxy primer in there after installation and follow it up after painting the car with Fluid Film inside all the "enclosed" spaces. Make sure you leave the drains open.
