I have 65 with 3:00-1 trac-loc rear end. What is the proper gear lube to use in it? I was told the noise I am hearing from rear end is probably caused by the wrong rear end lube. The service manual gives a part# and some additive to add. I know there is probably some already made for this rear, can't use regular 90w because of the clutch plates. What should I use.

I don't know what weigh/viscosity lube to use, but you do need to be sure to add the specified friction modifier to it for the t-lock. Dickson

I've always used 80W90, as long as I add the special additive, everything works great. You can get it in the K&W brand from your local NAPA store, or from your friendly Ford dealer ;-)

It's the additive that keeps the plates from chattering.
