As Brett Hull says "I'd rather be old and smart than young and dumb." Looks like the oldest team in the NHL will win the Stanley Cup!!!!!!!

Tonites score Detroit 3 Carolina 0! Thats a 3 to 1 series in favor of the Red WIngs if your counting.

I guess thats why Brett Hull is number 4 in playoff goals in NHL history! Must be luck to score 100 playoff goals.

Maybe the quote is inaccurate but his abilty as a goal scorer is not in doubt.

Brett Hull became the fourth player in NHL history to score 100 playoff goals in his career.

He has a better record as a playoff goal scorer than all but three other players in NHL history. I don't see how he got help from his dad in that department.

GO WINGS!!!

Oh yea..... they packed it in and are out playing golf /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Great goalie series tho, Irbe and Joseph were incredible. But then so is Hasek. I don't think the Canes' are out of it yet. I nthink they'll go at least 6 games, maybe 7.

It seems that everyone forgets that years ago to win the cup you only needed to win 8 games. That is why so many of the true all stars don't have the high goal totals like they do now. Hey if the boys from back then were playing 20 to 30 games in the playoffs the guys from back then would have numbers that would be unreachable. It's great to see that $$$$ can buy you a Stanley cup just like the Yankees did with the World Series. Detroit is what $7 Million above any other team in the NHL. Colorado did it last year and Detroit is doing it this year.
What a shame and it's destroying the greatest game on earth.
Maybe Yzerman, Hull, Luc, Federov, Hasek will retire after this cup.
I dislike the Red Wings more than you know but everyone has to admire Yzerman for staying with a team that went from the top to the bottom and back to the top and never leaving for a Stanley cup contender. That's what it should be about.
May the better team win but I hope it isn't Detroit.

Not a hockey fan and don't care much about it, but after reading and hearing some of what the Detroit fans have said about us here in North Carolina, I hope the 'Canes win at least a couple more games in the series. Mayberry is proud of our 'Canes. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

BTW, why is a hockey team named after a tropical storm? lol

Well, I agree that Brett Hull is an old fart and plays some great hockey. Games 1-3 were pretty good games with some hard hits and some great plays. Game 4 showed that Carolina was quite tired after holding out three extra periods after stupidly giving up a goal in the final minutes of the third period. Carolina plays some great hockey but Detroit does have the staying power and ability to turn up the heat towards the end. I predict at least one more Carolina game here, they are getting an extra day to rest BTW.

Been a Penguins fan for a while (never really cared for Detroit) and the only thing new about the Carolina team is the home...they have been playing under a different franchise...plus the pockets arent as deep being as it is a reasonably new franchise to the area. Don't count them out yet.
