I'm just now geting around to doing the wiring on the 66 fastback chassis I bought. I did not get any keys with it, so how do I get the old ignition switch out to put a new one in? I got the old one of my parts car but you have to have key to get center out, and center has to be out before back comes off... Help please.

Not sure but I do not think there is any way to get it out without a key. You could take the switch to a locksmith and they could make a key for it. Good Luck

Maybe I didn't explain right. I cant get the whole assy out without taking cylinder out, and cant take cylinder out without key.

Run a small drill bit into the key slot, just a bit deeper than the key itself would go (no more that 1/16 inch beyond key insertion depth). That will basically grenade the tumblers and the cylinder should just fall out.

Careful - do not drill too deeply.

Ive got the same issue, I have tried drilling with a big bit, but to no avail. I may try the small bit idea - but may end up with a locksmith. I believe that with a key (or a pick) you turn the key all the way to the start position, then insert a paper clip or small wire into the little hole to release the cylinder locking mechanism that holds it into the ignition switch...
