I have seen discussions on here about removing layers of paint one layer at a time to find original marks. How do you do that? What products do you use?

I can see the outline of my original door sticker on my vert, but I don't know how to get the paint off to see it. Is this an impossible task? Will the printing be wiped off with the paint?

How about other areas where grease marks or paint marks are located? I keep reading here about people taking one layer off at a time to uncover these marks.

When I found the paint marks and grease pencil marks on my '68 I usually found them under layers of dirt and grime. Luckily the car (where the markings were) was never painted over so I found most of the original markings in pretty good shape! But to answer your question, if the car was repainted I would assume a light sanding to get to the original paint would do it?
Good luck!
