Well, it was a nice sunny day, about 75 degrees when I pulled in. I had pre-registered as a Daily Driver, so I didn't detail my engine or trunk. Tech inspection put me into Street Driver class, as Midlife wasn't my sole source of driving...I had 2.5 hours to finish detailing the exterior, then start on the engine and trunk! Bummer!

While working on the engine, I see Laurie_S just 3 cars away, and say hi, and the lady next to her says she wants to sell hers, and not show it, so she drives away, and I try and take her spot. I'm cranking and cranking, and the car just won't catch. Mulletwagon is watching, and we're both shaking our heads. I'm getting embarassed. I managed to get a push into the spot next to Laurie, explaining the situation to her. She says "Have you checked your engine wiring?" and a big lightbulb goes off! My ignition wire came off the coil when I was cleaning down there! Put it back on, and it starts right up! Doofus Me!

Well, RCV, Mulletwaggon, HipoPony289, Don67Stang, Roadracer, Dickson, Bishir and his SWMBO (she's a sweety!) all come over for a group photo.

Laurie's car is being judged while we're sitting around, and they are shaking their head at her car...too much wrong. Laurie explains that she's the original owner, and the antenna never has been removed from the car. The Judges just laugh at her, implying she's just a dumb broad. Laurie's getting mad...

My car is judged, and the guy says some nice things about it. Only problem is is that Roadracer's 66Shelby w/Paxton is in the same class! No fair! Awards are tomorrow.

No one shows up for dinner except Dickson, and he brings a special treat, one that has to wait for pictures.

A fun time was had by all, and I am having a blast at my first show!

It's really rather unfortunate that some of these so called "specialists" that become judges are so completely off the map. That's one big reason that I could care less about trying to really restore a car any longer. Been there done that (original owner of a BB 66Vette)! All I ever had was problems from the dipsticks who were judging the car. And quite frankly I got very tired of trying to explain that it was a one owner original, with no alterations.

Sorry for Laurie, she was just caught up in the tidal wave of stupidity.

Dang! Just when I got used to being "strange", I became a "newbie". Now I'm a "tire kicker"....thump, thump.....he he

I'm surprised to here those comments about the judges.
Every judge I've come across here is totally knowledgeable about all things Mustang,
and if you believe that I've got a bridge you might be interested in buying!!!!! *G*

If in doubt give it a clout
If at first you don't succeed , find a bigger hammer

Randy, sorry I skipped out on dinner. I didn't realize you were buying. Seriously, the two boys were getting antsy so we decided to call it a day. Midlife is a great looking car!

That is too bad about Laurie's antenna. Both Murphy and Trouble are beautiful cars! Stupid judges. They shouldn't be called "judges." All the judges I know listen to reason and view the evidence. Certainly she being a one owner can verify the status of an antenna! Arizona is a long distance to come to be blown off by a "judge".

Please note, I resurected my signature from the old forum due to your request.

Later...

Thanks, Don, for putting your old signature line back! I laugh every time I see it!

I forgot to mention MustangMatt from Ponderosa Mustang was here as well...as soon as I said "Midlife" he breaks out laughing, and tries to sell me parts! J/K.

JBoggs and 66CoupeNW also show up at 9:30 and force Dickson and I to have beers while watching the pretty 2-legged sights in the bar...tough life, let me tell you!

Expert judges are why I quit showing my car. In my case it was the fender bolts. It is more fun to drive when you don't have to worry about bugs and paint chips.

66 63B 289/271 since may 1972. At that time just a used car for only $900.

Hey Midlife! It was great meeting you, and some of the other more infamous VMF family. Oh, by the way it's "Ponyboy289". Sorry I could not hang around for dinner. I had to get back to Biloxi. As for Laurie, and her judge experience, having judged in the 64-66 classes before, I have witnessed what she experienced. In the first show I helped judge, I was teamed up with Alan Stewart. In my opinion Mr. Stewart is an exceptional judge, very professional in the way he scores a car. He does not make any derogatory remarks, and always tries to talk to the owner, to help them in future judging. I learned a lot from him, in the short time I was with him. My second experience however was not so good. I was teamed up with two judges who were friends. They spent half of their time making jokes and snickering at the faults of the cars we were judging, sometimes within earshot of the owners. I was embarrassed to be with these two, and tried to stay on the opposite side of each car from them. Hopefully, MCA will eventually weed itself of judges like this. Now, who's soapbox was this, I borrowed?
