I can't believe I can't figure this out from my manuals, but nothing seems to indicate at what RPM you should set your timing. It says 6 degrees BTDC for my '66 289 with auto with the vacuum line disconnected, but at what RPM? I believe I've got a dual advance system (centrifugal and vacuum) and I've got single points. Actually, the distributor is a C8CF A (from a '68 I presume) if that helps. Thanks for your help with a baby question.

It should be set at idle RPM which I believe is 475-500 (in drive) for an auto.

After about ten minutes of searching I found the answer. Group 9, Section 1, page 16, set timing at the specified idle rpm. So you may want to check that first, the engine sould be at operating temp before doing this. Hope this helps, Jeff

Right you are. I read that area several times, but missed it. Thanks for looking that up.
