Just got a call from the restorer who's redoing SWMBO's '65 vert. The trim shop putting the new convertible top on the car called him to say they will need the car for another week. Seems they were stretching the top into place when the canvas split right down the middle. So now they have to order another one, wait for it to arrive, and then put the new top on.

This is a shop with a really solid reputation, so it must have been a freak quality problem with the top, but I was hoping to get the car back in SWMBO's hands this week. Oh, well, patience, patience.

Could have been worse. I could have been trying to do it myself. At least I'm not out any money this way. OK, just had to vent!

Ahh, that happened to a friend of mine, just in time for a Mustangs Plus car show...

They let my top "relax" in the sun on a warm day before installation. Maybe on a less warm day the material is less stretchable.
