I’m going to try and order seats soon for my ‘66 coupe. I’m looking at ideas for a good dual use seat that will allow backseat access while also working with harness/daily comfort and holding me in the seat on the track. I had considered the idea of just getting the TMI kit with headrests and extra bolstering. They look nice and seem to fit the bill. I’ve also considered doing a Kirkey GT 350R seat on driver side only and a folding seat on the passenger side for a for mentioned access. I don’t know anyone with those racing seats to test for comfort however. If someone has the low back Shelby type seats how comfortable do you feel they are for road trips/ daily comfort?

I too have been lurking around looking for a good comfortable performance seat option. Hi back preferred, that would fit without having to cut the floor board. I hope some of the residents on this site pipe up with options.

My car is more street than track, so I decided to re-purpose the seats from my old 2001 Camaro. I'm going to have them re-built/re-upholstered and have extra foam packed into the side bolsters. Ill have full power adjust and all that jazz as well as better support. A full race seat is nice, but as I learned in the Camaro, they get tiring on the street quite quickly.

I’m planning to run a Kirkey aluminum low back driver seat...on OEM sliders from ‘67 (they are lower). If it works well for rear seat access I’ll put the same on the driver side too.

Here’s pics (and credit to!) Roy V. from the“Group Two” Facebook group where he made a frame that connects (early) sliders to the Kirkey seat brackets.

I have a tall sitting height so I needed something as low as possible. They're expensive, but Recaro Specialists are BY FAR the best seats I've ever put in my car. Comfortable with good bolster (Experts have even more) and built well.
