does anyone know which seats from other fords are directly compatible with a 68 mustang. I'd like to "transplant" some seats from a junkyard car that have headrests. Thanks

When I bought my 65 basket case, it seems the driver seat was a high-back version from what may have been a 69. I took it out and replaced it with a 67 seat. All had the same stud pattern on the rails.

I'm Taking a set of Seats from a '94 GT, and replaceing the seat track with the seat track from my '67. I think I'll have to drill one whole on each track.

Most of the early fords have the same bolt pattern for the seat tracks. If you want to go to a late model seat (I have) you need to use the old tracks and either drill one new hole per rail or weld the rail to the seat bottom. I have seats out of a 89 GT and they are tons more comfortable than the 66's or 69's seats that I've had......

The easiest setup is any 69-70 seat. 69 non-Mach seats are basically identical to the 68's except for an added headrest. They also bolt right in.

Wow, you don't like the 65-66 seats? The original seat in my car is probably the most comfortable car seat I've ever sat in. (except in the middle of summer in FL....ouch! hot black vinyl!) I guess each person is different. The fox body seats always give me a backache.

I put 98 Gt seats in mine. I love them!!!!
They were comfy, but I've alway preferred a high back bucket....
