What have you guys mounted in your cars. I'm affraid that head room and steering wheel clearance is going to be an issue. I'm looking for a good sport seat and I've not ruled out a fixed back seat. Yes, I know rear seat access is limited. I want a good seat for track/autocross and want as must head and steering wheel clearance as I can get. Post some pic's if you can.:)

I put the procar's in my 70 boss clone. I love them. I am average height and the steering wheel clearance is fine. If you are really tall then you may have a problem...

I've put a set of after market seats in my 65 coupe and the clearance, both head and legs (to the steering wheel) is bad. I've got them mounted as close to the floor as I think I can. But I may have a little more room to work. The one thing is the steering wheel in the car now is a 13 in. and I hate it. I was going to put in a 14 or 15 inch wood steering wheel in but the clearance issue is in question. I'm 6" and 225 lbs so I wouldn't think I'm overly tall.
I just may need to go with a seat that has a little less cushion in the seat area? I think some of the fixed back racing seats may work. I've also seen the new SPARCO STEEL RACE SEATS on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...viewitem=&item=250206236682&_trksid=p3907.m32
and can get a set of them for $578 delivered. I don't know? Just wanted to see what you guys are doing.

What do you have in the car now? Any Pictures? If you plan on putting any prolonged seat time in, I would not get seats with the smallest/thinest cushion. A very popular mod is lowering the seat pans, there is a good tech article on the Mustangs plus website.

Seat risers have been lowered 1" and pushed back 3/4" so I could still reach bolts through the stock holes.

FWIW, If all you need is additional travel, you can drill additional holes in the seat riser and enlarge the pan holes from below. Then use rear shock mount access grommets to plug the pan from below.

I'm using some weirdo seats that i bought for $30.. Vinyl. Pretty ugly (But still pretty 60's muscle caresque). i THINK they might be from a late 70's early 80's mustang, but can't be sure. I'll try to snap a pic.

Here's a picture of some '04 Mustang GT leather seats installed in my '66. The seat risers have been lowered (considerably) and I shifted the steering column forward an inch or so to provide even more room.

Picked up a set of those this weekend for $125 from a guy that was parting out his BMW. The passenger seat is in great shape, the drivers is not so good, but not bad or broken. Now I need to find a decent shop to redo them...

I am installing a pair of Cerullo GT Sport Seats in my '66 coupe right now. I made a bracket to move the driver's seat back 4" while I was at it. These seats fit great and are perfect height for me. I'm 6 ft. tall with long legs and a short waist so raising seat a bit helps me. My legs clear the steering wheel nicely. Don't have any pics right now, but could take a few tonight if you wanted to see them installed.

Pretty close............... mine came out of a 5 series with the stitching running across the seats. I just had them re-upholstered to my liking, then had the rear seat done to match. I recommend ditching the elastic spanners under the seat and replacing them with steel spring spanners. The elastic is pretty springy making it WAY too easy for the seat pad to bottom out on the riser

I have Cobra Monaco race seats in my 66. They're really comfortable and keep you from moving even with lap belts only.

I have a set of Scat Procar Rally buckets and had the rear upholstery done to match. It wasn't too bad, only about $250. It is done in vinyl however. If you have a coupe or Fastback I think they are making upholstery that matches the front buckets. IIRC they charge about $130 for the rear. If you price it out I think it is about the same money to have new front buckets and rear matching rather than do a total rebuild of original seats with seat covers. (replace chrome, stops, foam ....)
