I have a new '66 sender unit installed but I am not getting any response from my gas gauge. the gauge will move slightly, from far left to empty but not any further. The wiring and gauge is good (I checked them) the sender unit has a good ground. What's wrong?

does your oil pressure and water temp gauge do anything. also ground gas gauge wire at tank and see if gauge goes to full. PM me if you need further suggestion.

Did you add gas to the tank? If the tank is very low, your gauge would read just as you described.

Sorry, but it is the obvious, but probably incorrect, answer!!

Check your constant voltage regulator. If that was bad though, none of your other guages would work either. You have probably installed a Taiwan reproduction sending unit, since Ford ones are obsolete now, and it could very possibly be bad too.

It is good I have found this thread. I had a similar problem in the past. And I did not find a clue to it at that time. From time to time I was reverting to it but with no success. Now I finally managed to put together all the elements of that puzzle. So thanks a lot for this information. I am from the Miami zip code location. And I am adding this forum to my favorites now. Great to find it.

This is an 18 year old thread. There are MANY recent threads on gas sending unit issues.
