I just got my 5.0 back from the tranny shop, I had a shift kit put in since they had to open up the tranny and I love it. Anybody have one in their C4? If so, do you like it and how hard was it to install? I'm thinking of putting one in my '66.

well..on the automatic..when you shift..the gears kinda...
overlap...so you get a smoother shift...
with a shift kit..the gears are....a lil harsher..cause they aren't overlaping when you go from 1st to 2nd...etc..
it just gives you more feel for the shift..
although if you are towing somethoing...
a shift kit is good to have ...cuts out slippage...when yer changing gears..

a camaro pulled up next to me..an reved...
I laughed.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago, and some good answers were posted. If you search "shift kit" you'll find it....

About $20 for the kit, drop the pan, remove valve body, do a couple of other things and put it back in. Not really hard to do.

Now you've got me wondering. I put a 3.55 rear end in my C4 equipped Mustang and it will "chirp" second fairly easily. It started me wondering if the car has a shift kit in it from a PO or if the chirping is expected for that low a rear end. Also wondering if I could tear off a more impressive patch with a shift kit.
