C and S Performance (Formerly Keith Craft) did a good job on fixing a door lock, one-wire alternator install, and etc. misc items.

Professional, quick and responsive.

Hey Guys,

Looking for a nice paint shop in the Dallas area to take my car. I'd like a good quality paint job at an affordable price ($3-5K).

If anyone knows of a good shop that can stay in this price range, please let me know. Condition on the car is good-- no rust repair, just a little bit of bodywork to smooth it out.

If you have any experience with someone, or have heard of someone that has, that'd be greatly appreciated.

I have had great service from a little shop on the north Houston called Classic Mustang of Houston, great place for paint and body work, engine, and they have ordered parts for me as well, The owners are just as nuts about Mustangs as I am.... Now i am looking for a nice classic car Saturday cruse-in spot.... any suggestions???

I will second this....Classic Mustangs of Houston have my 65FB and are doing a great job. Billy and his crew are top notch. Good price and very fair with the way they do business. If I had a Shelby and wanted it restored correctly there would be no doubt that this is where it would go.......

Houston area. Check out Chris Car Doc, hes in Humble but well worth the drive out there. He does alignments and builds engines , etc etc. I took my 65 to get it aligned then came back to get my car tuned and some buggs with the engine fix. He took care of business and knows what he is doing..

I used to have a few mustangs back in the day and I have recently aquired a 64 convertable that needs restoration. So, I am looking for local shops to do some work.

10-12 yrs ago at least there used to be a shop off a side street off of Division in Arlington TX. I believe the name of the shop was Classic Mustang. IIRC the owners name was Larry and he had his son working with him named Steve.

Is anyone familiar with this shop?

Does anyone know if they are still around or even in the business?

Alignment in Houston / Humble

Just got my '67 Mustang aligned after doing the Shelby drop. Chris Carroll (owner) aligned my car. He knows what he is doing and is a perfectionist.

I know Chris' shop has been mentioned before, yet I think it is worth bringing up again.

Restoration Shop - Abilene/West Texas Area

Blue Twisted Steel
Abilene, Tx
325-669-0757

Mitch and his brother Forrest are doing some very nice work out here. They will work with the owner to find the level of restoration that they are looking for.
It's a little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Several friends as well as personal experience allow me to recommend this shop highly for any work you are needing on classic cars.

Rescinded Recommendation

Unfortunately I am in a position where things have changed and I must rescind my above recommendation. If anyone is considering that establishment and needs further clarification they can PM me.

Looking for a recommendation for custom exhaust work in central Texas area. Planning to do an install of new rear suspension and will need custom from mufflers on back. Would like stainless and tig welding but can live with mig. Attached picture as an example. Thx

I have used this business, He does work on a regular basis for a local Mustang restorer as well. Not the cheapest but top rate. Located 1/2 way between Oak Hill and Dripping Springs.

I even took my own parts (complete single pipe exhaust from manifold back on my '65 289 2bbl). When I get the Ford Racing axle backs for my 2014, L & L will be doing the install.

Thanks, I'll drop in next time I go visit my daughter in Austin. I saw the post about L&L but it was 12 years old nice to know they are still recommended.

Any body shop recommendations for north Texas - DFW? I tried the one below (from a post on page 1 of this thread), but they are gone.

Thanks!

I visited a shop in Dallas today that was recommended by Dallas Mustang. The shop's name is Curtis Body Shop, address is 1611 Barnes Bridge Rd (near corner of Jupiter and Garland Rd) phone 214-327-2023. Owner's name is Ronnie Howell (bought shop from 'Curtis' and kept name). Really nice guy, had two Mustangs in shop at the time I visited. Seems familiar with Mustangs and their repairs. He is the ONLY ONE of the several I have called that is willing to work on rust and collision issues of these early Mustangs and not only on insurance collision repair. I have not had any work performed here so I cannot speak from experience , but from what I saw on one car it looks like he would be a good person to keep in mind. ;)
