Should I remove the front sway bar?

I use my car mainly at the track and was told by a few people to remove the front sway bar so the shocks can fully extend for a better launch and transfer. Is this true? Is there any significant structural support from a sway bar?

Yes, it's true. If the car would be used strictly at the track, i'd remove the sway bar. My 66 coupe is drag strip only and it has been removed. But if you are going to driving the car on the street, it would handle terrible. What you could do is loosen, or remove the end links down at the track. Then tighten them up if you need to drive it home.
