Starting in 1978 got a 68 coupe here in Thailand, took out Nissan deisel then like fool got a 1978 351C sight unseen from Australia . things seemd to being good, but with the help of a semi mechanic freind ,started to put in engine, he decided to put in tranny from below first, then to put the engine into the tranny from top it fit in but messed up the tranny pump. it ran so so but with a noise in it so in goes a new timing chain and timing gears ,water pump ,cam shaft, oil pump , then another cam , lifters, and push rods. now had to find some oil preasure so in went new main bearings, fixed it. now no idle so new metal intake gasket no vacuum . " must be the carb " my Carter QUADrajet rebuilt localy came back worse then it went out. so rebuilt carb from OZ came in OK . still will not run. No mechanics here for Gas engines . so now I have a 68 coupe right hand drive disc front brakes ,new paint job, derusted, white leather int. that is stuck in my driveway I ready to just dump it......

Can you purchase a complete crate engine and have it shipped to you? Then a local mechanic could install it.

Never quit! :: Take a break if you need...but never quit!

These things happen to you because of lack of knowledge. There are two ways to deal with that...hire a specialist or do your best, screw it up, and do it better the next time.

Use the best gaskets you can buy. I've never heard of metal intake gaskets for a street engine. have you tried summitracing.com not sure if they can ship to you. how do you know that you don't have any vaccum? 0 vaccum is pretty hard to get. can you have the engine running if you hold down the gas?

30 or more years ago, my brother was stationed at Udorn Air Force base. Do you have any US bases near you?
Put a notice up on the bulletin board, Maybe some bored GI will be happy to help.
