I have a 69 Mach 1 w/wide ratio 4 speed with 83K original miles. It's loose as a goose. I don't see a bushing kit for this. Is there a way to tighten the linkage?
Thanks

Unbolt the stick from the base, throw away the bushings that go under the stick and bolt it down solid(use some loctite). The bushings were intended to isolate vibration and soften the feel of the shifter so it would be comfortable for anybody to drive. You'll like it much better without them,I always did...

Thanks Lee. I'll try it this weekend.

I got the new plastic bushings(and bolts) for my linkage from Mark at toploaderheaven.com , they seemed to help things out some for me. I've got a 70 Hurst configuration, but I'd try giving Mark a call to see what he has.(even if the part you're looking for isn't on the website)
