A couple times now I've come across cars with transplanted engines (both 302's) that the PO neglected to put the engine plate that goes between the trans and the block back in. So of course the starter doesn't last. Helping out a friend we went to Ford and bought a plate for a late 70's vehicle (since they had one in stock) only to find the starter hole not in the same location as the 66 C4 bellhousing, it's about a 1/4 inch farther out. I think Ford went to a larger flywheel at some point but am not sure when the cutoff is, which would be helpful so I can track down a part that will work. When was the change? Thanks in advance.
