None of our Photopoint pics are working on the forum. Been that way for a couple days. Bob, did something change on VMF? The photopoint site seems fine.

Man, we all jumped on that Photopoint wagon for pictures. What a drag if it no longer works!

ps: Bob, please don't take this as a rant. This forum KICKS ASS, and we all greatly appreciate your effort

I just posted a little bit ago and it worked fine. Maybe it has something to do with Photopoint at the time the post is made?

The images are stored as part of the message. If the photo server is down at the time the message is posted, then that message will never have the photo attached.

not so... the link to the image is stored when you make the post. So if the server is down when you read the post you won't see the image.

I gave plenty of Photopoint alternatives in my other thread when we made the switch. It is very likely that Photopoint will begin filtering their hosting in the near future.

I tried my sig photo from Photopoint....zippety...

Interestingly, their forums are fried up as well...tried them on two different browsers and through a couple of back doors I know...

Was just curious if they are starting to filter requests...

Make sure to clear your cache and quit your browser between checks, or go to another photo host in between......there were times I thought my pix were working when they really weren't...

Jay and I beat this to death the first week of the switchover..*G*

Sometimes the cache will pop up a photo if the image path is still there...

Finally got in to their boards....looks like they made a programming change that won't recognize the jpg suffixes any more...

At least that was what one poster came up with...

Support just drones the stuff we already knew that didn't work here...

I just tried the link without the JPG and the VMF site server wouldn't accept the changes to my bio page...

I don't need this stuff but there are members who do...I'll see what more I can find out...

And explored and publish some updates to Jays options on other sites...

If they don't support .jpg files then everyone will have to save their pics in the .gif format and update their links to reflect the change. This assumes they support .gif files.

Seems very strange that a photo hosting service doesn't support one of the most popular picture formats. I suspect there's something they're not telling us.

They support .jpg just fine...it's just that their site won't recognize the requests for files with the .jpg suffix....if you look at your album (if you've got one there), you'll see there is no suffix of any sort on the raw URL's for the pix...their server serves them up based on their location protocol....

I added the .jpg as a workaround...Bob's server wouldn't recognize the pix as they were served from photopoint...they may have had a back door open and found out about it...

You can try .gif and see if it'll work...I doubt it...time to look for greener pastures...*G*

GIF doesn't work either. Looks like the good old boys at Photopoint don't want us there anymore. So be it.
