New to forum. 1966 inline 6 was driving fine, then began acting as if out of gas despite tank half full. Checked each spark plug & they are working. Fuel pump sends gas up to carburetor. Fuel filter clear. Replaced 1 bbl carburetor, but that didn't fix it. Neither gas in carb nor starting fluid in carb works. The engine will sputter for a split second, then die. Any suggestions of how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Check breaker points condition, adjustment (gap) and replace condenser.

If it doesn't try to fire with starting fluid, you don't have any spark to the plugs. I agree with Woodchuck. Check things in your distributor.

She's running. Changed the points, condenser, rotor cap, and ignition coil. Thank y'all very much.
