People want a V8 because they want more kick off the line, to go faster and don't care about gas mileage. Plus, they sound cool too! Straight 6's are fine. There not rare though. A lot of people who want to restore or keep their cars original will go with them. And they can go fast and sound loud. I have a cherry bomb on my I6 Falcon, and it sounds louder than my 289 Mustang.
I love my I6 65 coupe.
It has some kick and is real smooth.
After my suspension rebuild the car will handle like a dream.
The I6 Mustang's are better balanced cause of an even weight dist.
With the parts available for I6 Mustangs you can torque one to be pretty fast.

There is a group of us I6 stangers.
I'd say mine was pretty special. It has a cylinder head straight from Buenos Aires. Not another one like it north of the equator to my knowledge. The rest of it is pretty hopped up as well... Hoping to drop it in this weekend. Shooting for 14's.
