I need to have someone fix my '66 Mustang GT speedometer and odometer, which are not working. I assume this will involve installing a new cable from the dash to the transmission...is this a project for a general car repair shop or should I consult with a transmission specialist?

If it’s just the cable or the driven gear, that should be an easy fix that any mechanic can do. I assume the rest of the gauges work?

Any competent technician or even a proficient DIY-er would have little problem replacing the cable and/or driven gear.
