I just replaced the speedometer cable in the hopes of correcting a "jumping" needle on my speedometer. But it still jumps. What I mean is that when I'm curising along at fifty, the needle will jump back and forth in a bout a 20mph range. Now what?

Remove the inner cable and oil the entire length of it and reinstall. It is probably dry.

I would also check where the cable goes in to the transmission, mine was all gummed up, and I degresed it, and oiled it lightly with some WD-40 and it works fine.

In addition to the other answers: did you make sure that the new cable doesn't make any tight turns?
