I looked in the "Powermaster" catalog, a mfgr of mini-torque starters we are considering carrying and found the following listings for one of their starters:
Part#9503:Ford 289, 302, 351W, AT and 5sMT (3/4" offset)
Part#9504:Ford 289, 302, 351W, 3s/4sMT (3/8" offset)
"Offset is defined as the distance from the mounting surface of the starter to the engine side of the ring gear."
If I read this right any SB AT starter will interchange with a SB 5 speed bellhousing and flywheel.
