Steering Column Wiring???

545 Views 2 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  hooverq
I have removed my column on my '65 to get out my pedal support and was wondering if this is why I have no dome lights or power at all for that matter.
Do the 2 plugs on the column being unplugged have anything to do with this or do I have a new problem.
Unfortunatly the column is being painted so I can't plug it in now to test.
I also have no power to the starter. I am hoping one of you kind people can shed some light on this.(no pun intended)

I hardly doubt it. I hate to ask a stupid ? but is your battery disconnected ? If not then I would suggest you start checking for fried wires and/or bad fuses or connections. IIRC The wiring in the steering column is to activate the horns and the signal switch.
Remember that 30+ year old wiring is brittle. I would suggest starting to see if any/all wires have continuity. Good Luck

Thanks for your reply...I found my problem, actually it came to me in a dream, yeah I even work on the pony in my sleep.
I had accidently unplugged the wiring harness at the firewall when I loosened the master cylinder.
