I am re-installing my steering shaft. I am trying to install the steering wheel however not enough of the steering shaft is coming through to put the nut on the steering wheel. Pics included. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Randy

Is the slot on the outer column properly located at the mounting bracket? Assuming its the factory steering box with 1 piece shaft, improper location of the outer tube is the only thing I can think of that would cause your issue

There is a rubber grommet inside the lower end of the outer steering column tube that slides over an extension on the bearing preload adjusting nut on the steering box. My guess is that the tube is not seated on that extension. Look below the brake master cylinder and you can see what I'm talking about.

You also seem to be missing the centering cone and spring. Without these, the steering wheel will flop around as you attempt to drive. Is the bearing in place at the top of the column?
