What can be done to get rid of my steering slack? It's manual, original steering on a V8 66 coupe. Thanks - chris

If you look down at the steering box, you will see a "screw" with a slot on the top and a jam nut. The basic process is to loosen the jam nut, tighten the screw all the way, then back out the screw a specified amount and lock down with the jam nut. I don't truct memory for specifics, like how much to back the screw out. I always consult the shop manual.
HTH good luck.

You might want to try screwing it in just a little at a time, 1/8 turn was all it took on ours.
May take more depending on wear but don't go too far as you can jam the works bad.
Thanks guys!
