I am planning on removing the center console in my 68 fastback so that i can get a normal size stereo head unit mount and I am having underdash A/C installed at the end of this semester. I was wondering if anyone has seen or knows of a company that sells such a head unit mount. I have found kick panels for 5.5" speakers, but i haven't seen a head unit mount.

Thanks

Are you talking about like an underdash mount? Check here, they sell a few: http://www.partsexpress.com... They are the JC Whitney of electronics stores /forums/images/icons/wink.gif.

Um, I assume you mean the insert that goes in the dash board for a radio (http://www.sacramento-mustang.com/images/sm_rdiobzl78.jpg). They are sold aftermarket for about $44 at http://www.restoremustangs.com. If you want to mount a modern deck in it, I suggest you have it installed by a pro. I tryed cutting mine, and I diced it to sh!t.

I removed my console and bought an original mounting plate for the radio. I had a friend cut out an opening for a modern DIN style head unit. I just mounted it this weekend. It took 2-3 hours to properly install and bracket the radio in place. Looks good now. I would suggest picking up a used one (paid $10) and cutting that up instead of buying a $44 new one.
