What fits a '66 with a 289 motor better?
Will a straight one interfere with the distributor? Seems I read that somewhere. What are you guys using?

The cuirved one is designed to clear the oval shelby aircleaner.

I have the straight one on my 67 GT 350. What a pain in the a$$. But, when I bought it from Meir Racing in the early 70's, it came in a "Shelby racing" box. So, it stays.
The other poster is correct, the curved one was made to clear the oval air cleaner, but looks as good with anything.
Yes, there is also one with a bend it it to clear the Paxton air tube.

OK, thanks. I was looking at Kanters quick release bar and just got one for SWMBO, and one for me :biggrin:

Use the straight bar. I have no problem getting the cap off. As stated the curved bar is designed form the oval air cleaner.

My Mallory dizzy fits just fine under a straight Monte Carlo as well.

I've used both, but I think the straight one is better at stiffing up the front. While they both help, I think the straight one is inherently stiffer because of the design whereas the curved one will tend to flex slightly due to the curvature in the middle. That being said, the curved one makes it easier to access the distributor if need be....plus, it looks cooler. ::

one of each here, SWMBO'S 65 Fastback will have the curved one as it will have the Cobra oval air cleaner & my 69 Coupe will have the straight one.
