I just bought a '65 convertible and am having trouble starting it. The engine seems to fire when you turn the key, but wont continue to fire when you release the key from the start position. I am tending to think it is an electrical problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suspect a bad ignition switch. Testing it with a VOM could confirm this. Replacement would be fairly inexpensive.

I had this problem. I ended up replacing the solenoid, wiring, but the final solution was replacing the starter motor. Still don't know why...
