Just an update to my situation. I was able to get the broken part of the dipstick tube out of the timing chain cover. My mood has really improved too All i did was take a really coarse threaded screw and screw it into the hole, clamped on some vice grips to the end of the screw and tapped it out with a hammer. First fire up of the rebuilt engine should happen next weekend. Thanks to everyone who offered their advice on how to solve my last problem.
