Why run the battery cable UP and then back down over the splash shield ? Why not just around the bottom ?
Debated it but the radius it has to bend at won’t allow it. Gets close to the tire and I didn’t like how it would have looked. Can do more gradual bends higher.

Vintageleds didn’t show but I got bored and welded it anyway. I have yet to grind and fill but it went pretty smoothly. My car barely started on fire at all😂.

One thing I did notice is that my wiper posts are at about 5 degrees different angles. Is that normal?

Greetings Angry,
Welds/cowl looks great. Glad you didn’t have to call the Fire Dept…. 😄

Out of curiosity I went out to the garage and pulled the cover back on my 65 for a look at the wipers.. Obviously my wiper arms are on so not as noticeable but yes, I would say it’s normal. Facilitates the curve of the window on the drivers side. 👍

I’m trying to figure out how crazy I should go cleaning the bottom of the upper cowl. It’s got surface rust on it. I started but I’m already bored of it. What do you guys think?
It looks good to me unless you plan on driving on the beach at Daytona? Mine doesn't leak so I ignore it.

Super dry climate and it has not been in the rain or washed with water in the 4 years I have owned it. Any harm in knocking the loose crap off and throwing some black paint on it? Otherwise I need to find someone with a rather large blast cabinet.

Rust needs oxygen to spread. Encapsulation is the answer. A lot of forum members have kittens if every surface isn't blasted and treated with 5 different things and coated with 4 different epoxy coatings. At 60 , I looked at the bottom of my cowl and decided the grim reaper was going to get me long before rust got the cowl!;)

Do you have a post that details your wheels and tires? I am going the same route for a SOT 3 link and I just want a head start. Did you order custom wheels?
They are off the shelf. Post 146 has links. Front tires are 265/35/18 rears 295/35/18.

Wow, 265 up front. Have you fit them with the suspension and fenders on?
I started conservative with my 70 fastback with 245s hoping I can get 255s on if I have room. I do plan to roll the front fenders. Having already rolled the rear should allow me to get 295s at the rear like you are using.

I drove on them a few hundred miles with the sbf. No rubbing at my prior ride height at all. I did have to put a steering limiter spacer in each side. They were hitting my frame rails. Doesn’t rub now and my turning radius is fine. All four corners are rolled.

OK, so what are the dots other than just stickers?
They are stickers that are placed where my welds are going. Lots of extra work but I decided it makes sense to have paint anywhere I can.

Make sure to slather that cowl reinforcement with 2 or 3 tubes of seam sealer to make it authentic Shelby!
