Starting a build thread for the first time to document progress and get advise from the many on here who have dealt with the issues posed by this swap. My car has the second generation MII Heidts front end in it with an SBF and a t5 right now. Fueling is from tanks inc injection tank and Pimpxs. I mini tubbed it and installed an SoT 3 link, 9" with 3.89's and truetrac last year. Here in the planned parts list as of now.

Gen 3 mustang coyote(new or used not sure yet)

Vintage air front runner(not sure if I will be running a driven PS pump or Volvo electric)

T56 wide ratio with QT bell, 1330 yoke, clutch fork (will be here next week)

Running a cable for the clutch right now since I already have it. May go to hydraulic if the pedal is too stiff.

Ford control pack

Flywheel

Clutch

Pilot

Trans tunnel

Driveshaft will be Sot

Will run Manual brake's for now. Probably wilwood MC

Headers are TBD

Oil cooler nonsense is TBD

Radiator and fan are TBD

Got my AC condenser installed and my front end on except the hood. Working on a way to keep heat off of the wiring harness and brake lines. It’s pretty tight. Ordered some sleeving and hopefully it works so I don’t have to wrap my headers. I also heard getting them ceramic coated would help? Anybody know if that’s true?

I did a Gen II swap into a 79 F150 and used Thermashield everywhere I thought heat would be a problem. I can't say whether or not it would be of any help as you have wiring about an inch away from your exhaust whereas mine was mounted much further away. I would wrap everything in this stuff as they make claims of 50% heat reduction.

Hopefully the heat will be a non issue. I've got to catch up and read your whole thread. I read back to page 16. You have a rollover/inertia switch for the fuel pump shut off?
The silicone covered shielding is good stuff. I didn’t use that on harnesses but all of my hardline/fuel lines are covered as are all of my remote oil filter and cooler lines. It stretches to about twice its diameter for install as well. See pic below of the self vulcanizing tape. That stuff is amazing when you place it on that silicone shielding. Great for finishing the ends or if you inadvertently tear the silicone shielding etc.
My one large harness that runs behind my Coyote and wires running down to the starter all are covered in that silver faced wrap in the second picture. You could even put one of those over the silicone shield.

I have no before and after info but I did have my headers ceramic coated. It’s still hot… 😀

I’m hoping so.

I do. I installed a foxbody inertia switch connected to ignition switch wire that tells the ecm the car is on for simplicity instead of it just being on the fuel pump.

Thanks. As always, a wealth of knowledge. Hoping to get the heat problem sorted with the sheathing and then do a coating next time the headers are off or the car is out of commission. I want to pile the miles on asap!
Oh, and for you coyote guys I installed an oil separator because I heard it was necessary on any coyote. Went with my favorite brand.

They tested ceramic headers on an episode of Engine Masters. There was definitely a difference in heat distribution. Less in engine area and more out the tail pipe so worth it there. They did find out though that there was no change in actual engine performance...engine didn't care.

Thanks. I just read about it. Seems the coating only dropped the temp of the outside of the header 10 degrees. Doesn't seem worth it.

I had Jet-Hot coat my headers. They ceramic coat the inside and outside and claim 50% reduction in radiated heat. Don't know if its true or not but I have not had any underhood temperature issues. When I worked at a national labs, we had many parts coated by Jet-Hot.

You think that will make my 5.0 2021 F150 use less than 2 quarts of oil in 4000 miles? I do very very often shift at the 6700 rpm red line!:D

I'll have to check with my newly purchased 10 year 100,000 mile warranty to see it that mod is OK? I guess thats why the oil pan went from 6 to 8 quarts between 2020 and 2021.

Ford engineer's meeting with the bean counters.. I don't know, that adds up to $6 per vehicle to eliminate excessive oil consumption between oil changes. Lets talk about annual navigation subscriptions that nobody over 10 years old can figure out how how to program instead!

I would imagine it will be covered. May have to have them install it but it’s a 5 minute install. When I was younger 2 quarts an oil change probably would have had them adding it for free. Things have changed, as well as the definition of “normal”.

2 quarts in 4000 miles is perfectly normal on $100,000 Audi's from what I hear.

Some minor progress.

I put my parking brake lever in with no cable(still need to shorten the explorer lines and measure)

Cleaned some hardware a new way for me.

Bled my brakes alone because I heated my fluid enough for it to apply my brakes automatically while I let it idle for 30 minutes.

Threw my hood on. Much adjustment is still needed.

Heat shield on wiring and brake lines. We will see if things need moved or header wrap/coatings.
