Starting a build thread for the first time to document progress and get advise from the many on here who have dealt with the issues posed by this swap. My car has the second generation MII Heidts front end in it with an SBF and a t5 right now. Fueling is from tanks inc injection tank and Pimpxs. I mini tubbed it and installed an SoT 3 link, 9" with 3.89's and truetrac last year. Here in the planned parts list as of now.

Gen 3 mustang coyote(new or used not sure yet)

Vintage air front runner(not sure if I will be running a driven PS pump or Volvo electric)

T56 wide ratio with QT bell, 1330 yoke, clutch fork (will be here next week)

Running a cable for the clutch right now since I already have it. May go to hydraulic if the pedal is too stiff.

Ford control pack

Flywheel

Clutch

Pilot

Trans tunnel

Driveshaft will be Sot

Will run Manual brake's for now. Probably wilwood MC

Headers are TBD

Oil cooler nonsense is TBD

Radiator and fan are TBD

Seems daunting. Here is the car as it sits:

I am running the stock alternator in the factory position using the Detroit Speed alternator relocation bracket. It rotates the alternator closer to the block and further away from the frame rail.

Thanks. That is good to know. Guess I can go with the VA setup.
I could use a Volvo pump out of a yard. That crossed my mind too, but I haven't seen anyone do it to know what its like.
A friend did it with a Coyote swap in an F100 and seems to like it. He is @restostangs on Instagram

Thanks! I’ll look through his page. I think I actually follow him. You think I should go to the trouble? You’re using the VA and your install looks pretty nice. At this point and even before, I knew I’d need to balance money with time. I’m an impatient person with somewhat limited time (2 teen daughters) and want a high quality product. I drool over you build all the time and am constantly looking though your thread.

Malwood came in.

Removed 50+ years of grime. Wasn’t too bad though. Car started in San Jose and came to Phoenix in the late 90’s. Can’t see a reason to go through the red oxide as it’s been there quite a bit longer than I have been alive.

I believe it would be a viable option but I haven't actually driven the truck so hard for me to say good or bad. He has the pump mounted up under the fender and there is just a little sound from it when you turn the power on but you can't here it at all once he lights the fuse on the Coyote.
I'm sure he would give you his thoughts on it, functional and budget wise. I need to get over to his place and return his Coyote lift plates and check out his twister build so I will see what he thinks now that he has lived with it for a year.

Look at those clean floors.....it'd be a shame if you had to cover them in oil spray and dirt and then try to weld on them! ;)

Got some goodies in the mail from summit today.
Alternator kit that almost fits. I’ll notch the suspension so it has a bit more clearance.

the steering shaft has 3/16” clearance. Should be fine.

Talked to FP and the said an oil cooler is not strictly necessary and to try it. Worst case I’ll add one later. I have plenty of room for the filter and a sandwich plate in the stock location.

Also added 3 oil ports behind the stock sensor.

That’s all for now. May get a bit more time in on it tomorrow but Easter may limit it.

I’ve talked to all of the vendors for power steering. VA had a kid on the phone that didn’t inspire confidence. Pbh rep was good but I’d like to avoid the backward alternator if I can. The one I like the best is the KRC option because the reservoir is integrated. $900 seems like a lot for a pulley, bracket and pump. I have decided to try the Volvo pump route. Shouldn’t cost a lot so if I change my mind or don’t like it it’s not that big of a deal.

Now I just need to see if the MC pushrod lines up and possibly modify it for length. Then create clearance for the brake pedal to steering column. Then make a stop for the brake pedal and clutch pedal (as soon as the TO bearing comes in). Then the clutch pedal switch for the ecu. No prob😂

That MalWood USA clutch pedal is pretty trick! I put a SBC in a 1981 4x4 Yoda truck in 1990. Engine in and out of that truck 50 times trying to make it work. Thats why I'll stick with the old SBF on my Mustang. It only come's out once a year.

Looks like a really nice piece. Only complication is whether or not I will need to limit its travel for the hydraulic TOB and how to do it. Also finding a way to put a clutch switch on it. Shoulda done a 2jz. None of that Chevy nonsense. I love a 2nd gen Camaro. If I ever get FU money I will get one and coyote swap it.
I ended up buying the Vintage Air 174020 setup and got it today. I think I’m having a bad run of luck with vendors. Missing 5 bolts in the kit. Dowels for the compressor to block bracket had one that fit loose and another that had to be forced in. Holes that don’t need threads are threaded. It comes with a Detroit speed ps pump and it’s an option from them to have a 2 gpm fitting installed, but through VA it says it comes with one that 3.0-3.4 so an additional $40 fitting needs to be bought. Just weird. If you ignore all that it looks nice though.

Are you a doctor or a lawyer, or both?;) In reality we are sol on getting anything done right anymore because Gen-Z just wants lay in a field of cover with there lover and not work a day in their life. Your run of bad luck has nothing to do with you. Just ordered a new ARE "grampy camper" cap $3700 for the new F150 and it is 3 months+ out. I have done business with the place it bought it from for 38 years and it looked like a bomb went off after the old man died and the son was too lazy to clean up the mess. Sad, I always felt like the old man treated me fairly but it seems the son doesn't give $hit.

Wow, somehow I had missed seeing your build thread, now subscribed. Lots of memories regarding all the mods required to make my 6R80 AT fit, similar to your T56.
I am looking forward to seeing your flat firewall when done. I modified my original FW to increase room for the CMCVs.
Keep up the good work, fun to see others go down this road.

Yeah. Its a lot of work but its fun(most of the time). I have really learned that sometimes its better to just walk away. Thanks for the kind words. I have read through your thread many times in the last couple months.

An option for steering is running EPAS system and a manual rack. Its goes in under your dash and free up a little extra room in the engine bay
