RUST!

and my baby has it!

Its nothing compaired to what many mustangs have been through but it hurts. I have my seat removed to do the stereo intall and washed the car yesterday and see a stream of water from the side of the rear seat to under the sound deadener under the seat. I pull it up and find this!

The drain under the top hydrolic must be clogged. I havn't actually been able to locate it yet to clean it out. It seems there is a 2 tier drain. I can poke a wire from below from where the water ran out on the other side. That got some water flowing but it doesn;t directly connect to where the water comes in. Once it dries out i will try a bright light.

I'm not exactly sure the best way to deal with such a small hole. Even after i cut back it will still only be a couple inches at most. I guess weld in a patch. Whats the best source for the metal that will be right. I know zero about metal gauges. I'm also tempted to just clean it up and fiberglass over it.

Earlier i found this under the battery tray.

If you don't want to do the patch thing now, clean it all up, and use POR-15 on it. They also have a product that is thick POR-15 to patch the pin holes. his will stop the rust, and last a long time. Then, when you get ready, just cut all the bad metal out, and fix it...
