After doing an engine swap in one of my cars and having noticeably louder exhaust added to it, everyone now seems to want to race me. Anyone from a VW Bug to the guys in their Subaru WRX's, even kids in their parents minivan or station wagon. I typically always have someone approach me at a gas station and talk about my cars, or they talk about their car/project, or they just stare at it, etc. I've had people try to follow me home just to talk about my car, which was definitely a bit odd and I stopped a block or two away seeing that they were following me. I've had people tailgate me trying to keep up, or race, and one kid tailgated me for a couple of miles and then yelled out the window at me when I turned "that's a bada$$ mustang". Some people b!tch about how loud the car is, while others say it sounds amazing. I had one good looking early 20's year old woman ask me if my car was a Camaro.

Although, I think the question that I get most is "what year is it, a xx right?" Of which they usually say something like a 1962 or a 1969, when I've got a 1965 as well as a 1968, so not even close to being either of the two suggested years, and I usually mention that the mustang wasn't even produced until 1965. One guy pulled up alongside me at a light, revved up his motor, of which I forgot what kind of car he was in but I knew he wanted to race. There wasn't anyone behind us, so I turned off my car and took my hands off the wheel to not allow him to think that I was going to actually try as it was a car I'd have no issue winning against. Other times that will happen and if I'm in the right lane, I'll just make a right turn instead of going forward, etc.

Last Friday I had an old hag cut me off and proceed to brake check me since I was too close to for her liking immediately after she cut me off. She then began slowing down to a crawl once the road turned to one lane and tried trapping me behind her. Sucks for her because I bolted outta there before she got out of her car. Gave her a nice ear full of WOT sweetness.

Some people are really happy to see these cars and others seem super bitter and go out of their way to try and prove a point. Sucks for them, I'm driving my dream car!
I've always considered people in general as being "reactive" as opposed to "proactive", especially around here and even more so with regards to driving habits or styles where they're more of "reactive drivers" as opposed to "proactive" ones. Imo, most people that I see driving don't have a set way that they drive on a consistent basis where they're always for example staying to the right except to pass and/or generally always doing 5-10 mph over the speed limit, or however it is that they typically drive. They pretty much just drive not paying attention to others around them and will only react when others are driving in a different manner, then adjust accordingly to what the other vehicles are doing. For example, they could be in the fast lane on the freeway doing 10 mph under the speed limit with 5-10 cars tailgating them and 2-3 lanes to the right being wide open. Then if you go to pass, they'll see you doing so and then they will speed up. If people kept to the right except to pass and did at least 5 mph over the speed limit then we'd likely not have any road rage issues, backed up traffic, accidents and so forth. Or at least the number of those things would be considerably less.
