Just for future refernce, I narrowed the play in my steerng down to the universal joint inside the tilt steering column mechanism. I pulled the unit by removing the tilt pins, and then tightened the bolt holding together the yoke components. Souns simple, but it wasn't! as I had to re-thread the tilt pins to use the pin puller.
If anyone wants a step by step on this plus pictures let me know.

I would like to see how you did it. I got a tilt unit in my trunk when I bought the car, but it is in pieces. Pictures might help me see if this is worth doing.
Thanks,

My problem was the universal joint in the top end of the steering column that had come loose. What is your problem?
