For those of you running hopped up/performance small blocks and have done all the hipo tuneing, what did you end up with for a total advance and at what rpm? Right now I have mine at 38 and it gets there at about 3800 rpms. Just wanted to see where everyone else ended up.

To a degree it's really a matter of preference. I run my 351W in my race car with 36 degrees total at 4000 RPMs because that's where my engine makes the most power over a broader range. Your engine may need more or less advance to get the results you are looking for.

Every day is a holiday if you love your job.

15 and 38 degrees, all in at 3,000 RPM. 351W, F303 roller cam (.512" lift, 226 degrees duration at .050" lift), and aluminum heads.

Hope this helps,

Russ

Dizzy timing is 24 at 3000rpms set by Performance Distributors based on what I told them about my combo. 12 initial makes 36 total at 3000rpm. I have tried changing initial below that but haven't really noticed any change.
