I'm trying to replace my turn signal switch on my 65 with a Scott Drake part. The wires for the Drake unit have the metal pins attached at the wiring harness end. What I need to know is how to get the old pins out of the plastic connector block without messing things up. I've considered leaving them alone and cutting and splicing the new wires to them. Help?

There's a little barb on each wire in the plastic plug. I forget what I used to compress it and push/pull out the wires. I may have just cut the thing off. Then you remove the old wires (one at a time) as you insert the new ones from the new switch.

Dont cut the wires and use butt splices please. Take the inside of a ball point pen and use it to release the barbs. They also make a tool just for doing so but the pen works in a pinch. Mark the wires before taking them apart so they go back together the same.

The ballpoint refill worked great, after I searched the house for just the right size refill.
