Greetings,
My wife has a 1964 1/2 Mustang in fairly decent condition... But I am wondering about some parts for it.
I have seen many photos (and the real thing) of 1964 1/2 mustangs, and most of them seem to have bumper guards, but not all of them. My wife's car does not have this trim. Are these missing or was it possible to get a mustang without them?
Secondly, I have seen cars both with and without a chrome strip below the doors. Was this an optional piece of trim or was it originally on all of them?
My guess is that the bumper guards were not optional but the strips below the door were. Am I right?

You are correct. The bumper guards were standard equipment and the rocker panel mouldings were an option on 1964 1/2 -65 Mustangs. Rocker panel moulding became standard in 66 (on non-GT equipped cars).
