Hello and good morning.

I was given the attached two wire Faria tach [it does have light]. It's 5,000 rpm and for 8cyl but that is no big deal to me.

I'd like to install it in my '65 2+2 but like Shelby did for '66, on the dash. No worries there.

-->>Do I just simply wire it up in series through the Pink resistance wire? So tach red goes to key/ignition side, and tach purple to the pink/firewall side? Done? Nothing directly to coil...

I am running a Pertronix I.

Thank you for your help and response.

Yes, between the ignition switch and the 'pink' resistor wire going to the coil + side.
You have to include the resistor wire or the tach will be inaccurate until it burns up.

Interesting. Are the two brass studs insulated from the back of the tach? Most Faria tachometers are current sensing and are wired as Bob mentioned.
There are some voltage sensing Faria tachs as well, like the Rotunda one pictured. That one has a separate tach sensing wire which gets connected to the coil negative terminal.
