Shop manual says to use this for the hydraulic system in the power top..... checked two auto parts stores for it with no luck. Is this an obsolete product? where to get it? substitutes?

Pennzoil ATF is a replacement for Type "A". Note: the reason you can't find it is Dexron/Mercon fluids are friction altered fluids similar to the old Type "A". Any Dexron/Mercon fluid should do fine.

Local O'Reilley (or O'Really) hadn't heard of the stuff but the local Wally World carries it...

IIRC my 66 convertible power top uses Type F fluid not the other.

To be honest, I think hydraulic fluid would work just fine,
